# Cloud VMs

> Launch and manage virtual machines on IBEE Solutions — flexible compute for web apps, APIs, backends, databases, and dev environments.

IBEE Solutions VMs are KVM-based virtual machines you can deploy in minutes from the IBEE Solutions portal, the [`ibee`](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/launch-your-first-vm#using-the-ibee-cli) CLI, or the API. Pick a region, plan, and operating system — your server is provisioned with a public IP, root disk, and bandwidth allowance attached.

> **Info**
>
> **New here?** Follow the 5-minute [Launch your first VM](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/launch-your-first-vm) quickstart.

## What you can do

* Deploy general-purpose servers (Linux or Windows) in supported regions.
* Resize CPU, RAM, and disk by changing plans without rebuilding.
* Attach block storage volumes for persistent data outside the root disk.
* Take **snapshots** as on-demand recovery points, or schedule **automated backups**.
* Restore in place, restore a single disk, or create a new VM from any recovery point.
* Monitor CPU, memory, storage, disk I/O, and network throughput in the console.
* Open a browser **console** for out-of-band access when SSH is unavailable.
* Automate the public VM create, read, power, metrics, and delete operations via
  the [`ibee` CLI](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/launch-your-first-vm#using-the-ibee-cli)
  and the IBEE Solutions API.

## Instance families

Two families are available — choose by workload profile, then pick a size within the family.

| Family | Use case |
| ---------------------------------------------------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| [Standard VMs](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/instance-types) | Balanced vCPU and memory for everyday production workloads — web apps, SaaS, APIs, small to medium databases. |
| [Performance VMs](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/instance-types) | Compute-optimized with higher CPU density — high-traffic web servers, gaming, batch processing, distributed systems. |

For accelerated workloads (training, inference, rendering), see [GPU VMs](/docs/infrastructure/gpu-vms).

## Regions and locations

Cloud VMs are available in the following data centers:

| Region | Location | Code |
| ------ | ---------------- | ---- |
| Asia | Amaravati, India | AVR |
| Asia | Hyderabad, India | HYD1 |

See [Regions and locations](/docs/getting-started/overview/regions-and-locations) for the full availability matrix.

## Lifecycle of a VM

| Stage | What you do | Where |
| ------------- | ----------------------------------------------------------- | --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Deploy** | Pick region, plan, OS, SSH key, and hostname. | [Create a VM](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/create-a-vm) |
| **Configure** | Attach volumes, open firewall rules, add DNS records. | [Attach volumes](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/attach-volumes) · [Networking](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/networking-for-vms) |
| **Operate** | Monitor metrics, run power actions, open the web console. | [Monitoring](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/monitoring) · [Power actions](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/power-actions) |
| **Protect** | Enable scheduled backups or take manual snapshots. | [Backups](/docs/tools/backups) · [Snapshots](/docs/tools/snapshots) |
| **Scale** | Change plan to add CPU, RAM, or disk — no rebuild required. | [Resize a VM](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/resize-a-vm) |
| **Retire** | Stop and delete when no longer needed. | [Power actions](/docs/infrastructure/cloud-vms/power-actions#delete) |
